SMET Tops 2 Million Tons For Second Month In A Row

For the second month in a row, Superior Midwest Energy Terminal has shipped more than 2 million tons of coal. August loadings totaled 2,010,871 net tons, a slight increase compared to the corresponding period last year. (SMET's July loadings topped 2,250,000 tons.) The August total also represents the first time SMET has shipped more than 2 million tons in consecutive months since the dock began operations in 1976.

For the season, loadings at SMET stand at 10.3 million tons, an increase of nearly 10 percent.
