Some Improvement in Vessel Utilization Rates

LCA's August 1 survey of U.S.-Flag Great Lakes carriers found 58 vessels in service, an increase of three hulls compared to July. However, compared to a year ago, the active fleet is still down, in this instance, by 5 vessels. Steel industry problems continue to account for most of the reduction in vessel usage.
