April 1 Vessel Survey - U.S.-Flag Great Lakes Fleet

The major U.S.-Flag Great Lakes lines had 51 of their 68 vessels in service on April 1, the same as the year before. Two U.S.-Flag vessels have been deleted from the data base for this survey in 2000. The JOHN BOLAND was sold to a Canadian operator last fall and now flies the Canadian flag as the SAGINAW. This year the cement barge ST. MARYS CEMENT is being pushed by a Canadian tug, so will not be counted in this survey. Added to the data base this year is the self-unloading barge PERE MARQUETTE 41.
